Restoration of the Tomb of Jesus

A portion of all proceeds also support the sanctuary built to preseve Christ's tomb. In the late 1990s, an American and senior member of the Order, organized and funded the restoration of the dome above the tomb in preparation for the Great Jubilee of 2000.

The Order assists the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem and the Ponitifical missions for Palestine in raising both awareness and funding for the restoration effort.

About the Pontifical
Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem

Founded during the Crusades, the Equestrian Order's original mission was to escort pilgrims safely to the Holy Land on Pilgrimage. This order of knights was directly tied to the Church and the Latin Kingdom and was given the duty and honor of safeguarding the holiest site of Christendom - the site of the Crucifixion and Resurrection of the Son of God - the church of the Holy Sepulchre.

Following the loss of the Latin Kingdom, the Order returned to Europe and enjoyed the patronage of the Popes and of European nobility.  Pope Pius IX reinvigorated the pontifical honor and bestowed it upon women - considered a progressive reform - in the mid 19th Century.

Today, the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre has over 20,000 members throughout the world under the direct protection and patronage of the Holy See by the His Holiness, the Pope and the Cardinal Grand Master of the Order, His Eminence Carlo Cardinal Furno.
